SMS Corporate Services, part of SMS Group, one of Malta’s oldest maritime names with over 160 years in shipping, has been registering vessels under the Malta flag for 30 years. We are now looking for a senior professional to lead our ship registration department and take it into its next phase of growth.

THE ROLE

You will run the department end to end, reporting to the General Manager of SMS Corporate Services and to the Managing Director. On the operational side, you will manage the full registration lifecycle with Transport Malta, including provisional and permanent registration, bareboat charter registration, transfers, deletions, mortgages and commercial yacht compliance, while ensuring client onboarding meets our AML/CFT and sanctions standards.

Just as importantly, you will grow the business. We want someone who brings relationships with shipowners, ship managers, yacht managers, brokers, financiers and maritime law firms, and who will actively build on them through networking, international industry events and referral partnerships.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• A lawyer with a maritime or shipping law background, or a professional with substantial hands-on experience in Malta flag registrations, gained at a law firm, corporate service provider, ship registry, yacht management company or shipowner/manager.
• A proven ability to generate business through personal contacts, networking and client development.
• Sound knowledge of the Merchant Shipping Act and Transport Malta procedures.
• Confidence representing the company with international clients and at industry events.
• Excellent English; other languages, particularly Italian, are an asset.
